CAR. THE MAIN THING IS LIKE SHE’S SAFE. THAT’S THAT’S THE MAIN THING. THAT’S WHAT TENGA IS SAYING TONIGHT. ONE NIGHT AFTER HE AND A GROUP OF STRANGERS JUMPED INTO ACTION TO SAVE A WOMAN FROM A BURNING CAR. YOU COULD REPLACE A CAR, BUT YOU CAN’T PLACE, YOU KNOW, A LOVED ONE. HE AND A COWORKER WERE DRIVING HOME WHEN THEY SAW A CAR CRASHED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH FLAMES ALREADY SPREADING AROUND IT. HEY, MAN, WE GOT A WE GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. SO WE’RE LIKE, LET’S GO. BUT TENGA WAS FOCUSED ON THE FLAMES UNTIL OTHER DRIVERS WHO HAD STOPPED SAW A WOMAN TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR. I JUST CAME BY WITH THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND JUST BUSTED IT OUT. YOU CAN SEE ON THE FLOORBOARD THAT THE FLAMES WERE COMING UP FROM THERE. BUT TENGA AND OTHERS MANAGED TO GET HER OUT JUST IN TIME. AS SOON AS WE GOT OUT THE WAY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME IN, THE CAR JUST BURST INTO FLAMES. SO IF SHE WAS IN THERE ANY MUCH LONGER, I DON’T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. HE’S HOPING HIS STORY INSPIRES OTHERS TO ACT INSTEAD OF DRIVING BY AND LOOKING, YOU KNOW, GETTING YOUR CAMERAS OUT AND SEE WHAT’S GOING ON. IT’S LIKE, GET OUT, GET OUT THE SEAT AND HELP SOMEBODY. An Elk Grove man’s commute took a frightening turn this week when he jumped into action to save a woman from a burning car. The incident happened Wednesday as Boo Bitanga and a co-worker were driving home on Highway 37 in Vallejo. That’s when they saw a car crash into the side of the road with flames spreading quickly. Other drivers who had stopped to help pointed out that a woman was still trapped inside. That’s when Bitanga sprang into action, breaking the car window and getting her out just in time.“As soon as we got away, the fire department came, and the car just burst into flames,” Bitanga said. “If we waited a little bit longer, I don't know what would have happened." The Vallejo Fire Department said the woman suffered burns and a broken leg. They are still trying to determine what caused the crash. "The main thing is she's safe; that's the main thing,” Bitanga said.
