‘The main thing is she’s safe’: Elk Grove man helps save woman from burning car in Vallejo
An Elk Grove man’s commute took a frightening turn this week when he jumped into action to save a woman from a burning car.
The incident happened Wednesday as Boo Bitanga and a co-worker were driving home on Highway 37 in Vallejo.
That’s when they saw a car crash into the side of the road with flames spreading quickly.
Other drivers who had stopped to help pointed out that a woman was still trapped inside.
That’s when Bitanga sprang into action, breaking the car window and getting her out just in time.
“As soon as we got away, the fire department came, and the car just burst into flames,” Bitanga said. “If we waited a little bit longer, I don't know what would have happened."
The Vallejo Fire Department said the woman suffered burns and a broken leg. They are still trying to determine what caused the crash.
"The main thing is she's safe; that's the main thing,” Bitanga said.
