    East Bladen athletes book their trip to state

    PENDER – East Bladen’s girl track team placed 4th and the boys placed 5th in the 1A Mid East Regional last Saturday. Junior hurdler Laila Smith won the 300mH with a time of 51.37 to book her ticket to the 1A State Championship in Greensboro this Saturday. She also took silver in the 100mH finals with a time of 18.56, with her teammates Ariel Cromartie and Lent Leya finishing behind her at third and fourth.

    East Bladen’s girls and boys relays gave stellar performances on the track to book their ticket to states. East Bladen’s girls 4x100m and 4x200m both took top three finishes on Saturday, they ran 52.68 to claim second in the 4x100m and they ran a time of 1:52.26 to claim second in the 4x200m. The boys took the gold medal in the 4x100m with a time of 44.65 and the 4x200m team took the silver medal with a time of 1:35.51.

    Thrower Jadon Prigen threw 148-11 to claim the silver medal in the boys’ discus and earned himself a spot in state competition. Sprinter Chace Butler finished second in the 100m finals with a time of 11.83 and finished in second for the 200m finals with a time of 23.23. Jayden Daily also finished fourth in the 100m to book his ticket to the state competition.
