LMPD getting 8 new drones to use during active scenes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mayor Craig Greenberg and the Louisville Metro Police Department have announced they are launching a new drone pilot program. The program will provide a long-range drone for every LMPD division office, training and technology services to be used in street racing violations, missing person cases, traffic collisions, SWAT situations, water rescues, and more, according to the city.

LMPD investigators said Julian Oyaro was with a 17-year-old murder suspect Tuesday when the 17-year-old was shot by an LMPD officer after he refused to drop a gun. Investigators said Oyaro was there when the incident happened on West Kenton Street.
