MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — Trial dates have been set for an Eldon man who was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Child found dead in Miller County home

According to court documents, Albert Keel, 27, is set to appear for a pre-trial conference on Nov. 12, followed by a jury trial on Feb. 3, 2025.

On Jan. 14, police in Eldon arrived at a residence and found a child dead from a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was left out on a table in the living room of Albert Keel’s home.

Keel informed the police that he had been playing video games until 6 a.m. and was so exhausted that he didn’t hear a gunshot. He admitted that his handgun had been left loaded and within reach in the living room, suggesting that the child must have accidentally shot himself.
