Big rig crashes on I-35 south of Bethany injuring driver
A single-vehicle accident occurred on June 11, 2024, at 10:40 p.m., six miles south of Bethany on Interstate 35 in Harrison County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brent M. Howard, 61, of Eddyville, Iowa, was driving a 2017 Peterbilt Conventional southbound when the vehicle traveled off the roadway into the median. Howard attempted to correct the vehicle’s path, causing the truck and its towed unit to overturn. The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side in the median, facing southeast. The truck sustained total damage and was towed by Scotty’s.
Warmth and Humidity Builds
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - We begin warming Tuesday as we approach 80. Mid to upper 80s quickly taking over for the remainder of the week and into the upcoming weekend. At the same time, dew points will be on the rise too, climbing to the 60s so it will begin to feel more like summer and decently humid. Rain chances return on Tuesday though they appear quite light and don’t appear to provide much measurable precipitation. A better storm chance is setting up for Thursday which may have the opportunity to turn severe when coupled with summertime heat and humidity.

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Tonight into early Saturday, expect a disturbance to bring scattered showers or isolated storms, with light rainfall in some areas between midnight and 9 a.m. Clouds will linger through Saturday, but rain chances drop by the afternoon. Temperatures will stay in the mid-70s, though a light shower might pop up. Sunday looks pleasant with highs in the mid to upper 70s, widespread sunshine, and occasional breezy winds. Next week starts cool with Monday’s highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and increasing clouds by night. Tuesday brings a slight chance of showers and isolated storms, with light rain expected. The second half of the week warms up, with highs jumping into the 80s and possibly reaching the upper 80s by the weekend, bringing a summerlike feel. A low chance of showers and storms returns on Thursday.
