A 32-year-old man was shot and killed in El Paso's Upper Valley after a road rage incident that police said involved 53-year-old Raul Alberto Orozco, 28-year-old Jose Alberto Orozco, and 21-year-old Cristian Bradley Orozco.
Wednesday morning the Orozcos were arrested and booked into El Paso County Detention Facility for the murder of Marcos Fino Jr.
KFOX14 spoke with a neighbor that knows the Orozco family and she said she was shocked to find out that police said the family was involved in the deadly shooting.
"Holy mother, I see this cluster of cops and people and I was praying and hoping that it wasn’t who I thought it was but it turns out that it was," the neighbor said.
The neighbor told KFOX14 that Raul Orozco is a mechanic and had taught his two sons the trade and she had gone to both Raul and Cristian to help fix her car.
"They are decent people, good people, hardworking, honest. Cristian is a gentle soul. I’m just at lost for words, and I really can’t believe this happened," the neighbor said.
The incident unfolded following an altercation between Raul Orozco and Fino Jr. while they were driving along Doniphan, according to El Paso police.
Raul and his two sons, Jose and Cristian, blocked Fino Jr. with their vehicles and an argument ensued. Police said it turned into a physical altercation that led Jose Orozco to shoot and kill Fino Jr.
"There was cops and there were all over the windows and knocking and I just kept walking and turned the corner and I just went away because I was scared," the neighbor said.
Raul and Cristian Orozco were arrested and are being held on a $500,000 bond while Jose Orozco is being held on a $1 million bond.
Jail records show Raul Orozco has been arrested 11 times since May 1993. In addition to this week's murder charge, he was accused of deceptive business practices in December.
His other arrests were mostly for marijuana-related drug charges.
Jose Orozco was arrested five times, according to jail records.
His past charges include deceptive business practices along with gun and marijuana charges.
Cristian Orozco did not have any prior arrests, according to jail records.
The neighbor told KFOX14 it's an unfortunate situation for the Orozco family.
"There really good honest people with the work that they do the mechanic, it’s really sad," the neighbor said.
The neighbor said she's been living in the neighborhood since 1965 and has always felt safe.
Wednesday morning the neighbor texted Cristian but never got a response as he was arrested.
"I just said 'hello, hey Cristian it’s me' and no response and I texted again. I noticed that everything was empty [outside the house] and no cars, nothing and it just breaks my heart," the neighbor said.
KFOX14 also reached out to Fino Jr.'s mother, family and friends but did not receive a response in time for this report.
