In Michigan, a handful of local teams are heading to the regionals.
Edwardsburg won a hotly contested district title this weekend, upsetting fifth-ranked Lakeshore.
"It's been the same group of girls coming up so we've created a bond," senior third baseman Abby Bossler said. "We understand each other, know how to play together and we're coming together at the right time."
The Eddies are trying to make it past regionals for the first time in program history led by a group of seniors who are motivated to be the group to reach the state quarterfinals.
"Every single game we're in, we're loud, we are ready to go, clawing at the fence to get out there to make a play," senior pitcher Emma Denison said. "This team just bonds so well together that no matter what you do you have someone picking you up, cheering for you and that throws other teams off their rhythm. They're not used to having a team that combined, that loud, screaming in their face the entire time."
Edwardsburg will play Vicksburg in the regional semis on Saturday at 12 p.m.
If they win that, they would face either Hamilton or Wayland later that afternoon for a regional title and a trip to state.
