The Edmonds Plaza is a unique venue that is part of the annual Edmonds Arts Festival. At the Plaza, located on top of the Edmonds Library at 650 Main St., visitors can leisurely browse and purchase art in an outdoor park-like setting with a relaxed ambiance. There is an adjacent large indoor space to shop as well. At the Edmonds Plaza, guests can view and buy art, talk with artists, listen to live music, enjoy snacks, unwind, and experience breath-taking views of the Salish Sea and Olympic mountains.

Matthew Lee Caldwell was born May 14, 1958 in Port Townsend, WA. Matt or “Coach” was surrounded by loved ones in his final hours and passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023. Matt spent his childhood years in the quirky place of Port Townsend along with his many (8 in fact) brothers and sisters. When he wasn’t attending Catholic mass or changing the town sign to “Pot Townsend”, you likely would find him playing basketball or hanging out at the local theater. After graduating high school and spending a few years at Skagit Valley Community College where he played guard/forward for the basketball team; he set his sights on Pullman, WA to become a forever Coug at Washington State University. Graduating with his bachelor’s degree in science & physical education, he moved back to western Washington and eventually met LeAnne, the mother of his four children. He became a Physical Educator first at Meadowdale High School, then onto College Place Middle School, (who’s aptly named mascot were the cougars, though I’m not sure he enjoyed the blue and orange over crimson and gray). The nickname Coach was rightly earned from his many years coaching boys basketball, football and track at College Place, girls volleyball at Meadowdale High School, and most notably girls golf at Edmonds Woodway High School where they went to state nearly every year.

Edmonds College has been selected as one of 15 finalists for Takeoff: Institutional Innovations for College Men of Color and will receive a $75,000 grant to help the campus’s Men of Color Scholars program. Edmonds’ submission was one of 152 applications from 31 states received by the committee.

Council finalizes code changes for Edmonds board and commission appointments

Edmonds police on Wednesday alerted the public to an incident involving a police impersonator in a black Jeep on Olympic View Drive at Talbot Road. Police said on social media that a citizen was in a vehicle on the side of the road when the Jeep, using lights and sirens, pulled in behind the vehicle. The suspect was wearing a vest that said “Sheriff” and he claimed to be an Edmonds police officer. When the citizen questioned the man, he got back into his vehicle and left.

Police impersonator reported on Olympic View Drive

A man was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Edmonds’ Highway 99 in the 23900 block Thursday night, Edmonds police said. The man, who was staying in an Edmonds motel, was taken to Harborview Medical Center but was determined to have no serious injuries, Edmonds police spokesperson Commander Josh McClure said.
