Crews on the scene of multiple power lines down

HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Multiple live power lines are down causing power outages, fire officials announced.

Edcouch FD responded to Adkins and Industrial Street after reports of multiple power lines down.

Fire officials advise residents to stay away from the affected areas. According to a social media post from Edcouch FD, AEP has been notified of the situation and does not have an estimated time of when the issue will be resolved.

Fire officials advise anyone who sees any power lines down to stay away and call (956) 262-3004.

Additionally, the City of Edinburg has set up street closures after reporting downed power lines. Power outages were reported at University and McColl, University and Jackson and University and Pine Oak, according to a social media post from city officials.

Street closures have been set up on University Drive from Monmack to McColl. Utility company crews are working on repairing the power lines in the area.
