Ector County Sheriff's Office investigating deadly West Odessa shooting

One man was found dead on scene and a man believed to be the shooter was arrested.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — UPDATE: 19-year-old Sabastian Ocon has been identified as the suspect arrested in the shooting incident on March 28.

In footage from a neighbor in the area, you can hear 7 shots being fired.

According to Sheriff Griffis, Ocon is facing a murder charge and has remained in Ector County Jail with a bond of $750,000. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Arron Fuentez. Next of kin has been notified.  

Deputies responded to the incident at 5:35 p.m. on March 28 and found out that a physical altercation between Fuentez and another individual occurred. Ocon, who was not involved in the fight, took out a firearm and fired several rounds at Fuentez. 

Ocon immediately left the scene on foot and was detained three blocks away from the scene. Witnesses said Ocon fell as he was running away from the scene and sustained road rash injuries to his face.

The Ector County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly West Odessa shooting.

According to Sheriff Mike Griffis, at approximately 5:35 p.m. deputies responded to a shots fired call with ambulance in route to the 10100 block of Westridge Dr.

Upon arrival, deputies found a dead man in the driveway of the property.

A man believed to be the shooter was arrested.

At this time, the identities of the victim and accused shooter have not been released.
