Ector County businesses receive $7 million in dividends from Texas Mutual
AUSTIN Texas Mutual Insurance Company, a policyholder-owned company and the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, has distributed $340 million in dividends to over 69,000 Texas businesses, representing approximately 92% of the company’s policyholders. Of those businesses, 814 are in Ector County and received $7 million in dividends, which they can use to reinvest back into their businesses and local communities.

The Ector County Sheriff's Office in West Texas is grieving the passing of Corporal David Core this week. Corporal Core, who had received a promotion earlier this year, had been a crucial member of the department. Located on 5th St., the Ector County Library, a hub of cultural enrichment and learning in Odessa, has proudly served the city for 85 years. Originally housed in an old courthouse cum jailhouse, the library began in 1938 with a mere 800 donated books; a testament to its humble beginnings and the drive of the town's women's clubs and community groups. Managed initially by Miss Lila Box White, a former local school teacher, the library's collection rapidly escalated from 800 to a staggering 2,500 within its first year.
