A break-in early Memorial Day at the Ayr Dispensary, a retail cannabis store on Main Street in Eatontown, cost the company a large amount of cash, police said.

Eatontown police were notified by an employee who showed up for the morning shift that day, Lt. Edward Nelson said.

None of the store's products were taken during the burglary. There was a forced entry into the shop, but Nelson declined to elaborate or say how much exactly was stolen, citing the ongoing investigation.

A company spokesman declined to comment on the incident.

The dispensary took over the location from Garden State Dispensary in September 2021 and rebranded itself Ayr Dispensary in the fall of 2022, one of 85 dispensaries around the country owned by Ayr, the spokesman said. They include dispensaries in Woodbridge and Union.

Nelson is urging anyone with information that could aid the investigation into the burglary to call Detective Jorge Gonzalez at 732-389-7628.
