Muncie man's trial in Cardinal Greenway homicide underway

Errington calls for 'common sense gun regulations' in wake of Muncie shooting
MUNCIE, Ind. — A recent shooting that left an 18-year-old Muncie woman hospitalized has prompted a call for "common sense gun regulations" by state Rep. Sue Errington. On Nov. 21, the Muncie teenager suffered "multiple gunshot wounds" in her family's East 17th street home, reportedly when her 16-year-old brother fired several shots through her bedroom door.
Weekly Safety Report: Attempted Murder and Police Misconduct Shake Muncie, Indiana
Two incidents occurred in Muncie, Indiana this week. In the first incident, a 16-year-old boy was arrested for the attempted murder of his 18-year-old sister. The shooting took place inside their home, and the sister was not the intended target. In the second incident, a former Muncie police officer pleaded guilty to lying on a police report about another officer's excessive force on a suspect. The guilty plea came after two hung jury trials. The judge expressed concern over the leniency of the plea agreement.
Weekly Safety Report: Police Chase and Fentanyl Arrest Impact Gas City, Indiana
Gas City, Indiana experienced two incidents this week. In the first incident, police pursued a stolen Mercedes SUV that refused to stop, resulting in a brief stop where a female passenger exited before the suspect continued the chase. The car eventually lost control and stopped. In the second incident, a Gas City man was arrested after a rollover crash on I-69. Police discovered over 10 grams of fentanyl, suspected marijuana, paraphernalia, and pills that tested positive for fentanyl in the driver's possession.
