Crews rescue 14 puppies, adult dog from basement of burning Eastpointe home

EASTPOINTE (WWJ) – More than a dozen dogs have been rescued after a fire broke out at a home in Eastpointe early Sunday morning.

Eastpointe firefighters were called to a home on Rosalind Avenue near 9 Mile and Kelly around 4 a.m., according to the Eastpointe Fire Fighters Association.

Crews came across a “well-involved” fire in the basement of the home.

Crews eventually were able to rescue 14 puppies and one adult dog from the basement. No injuries were reported.

It was not immediately clear if any people were home at the time of the fire.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the fire.

The Eastpointe Fire Fighters Association thanked crews from Warren, St. Clair Shores and Roseville, who all assisted at the scene.
