Repairs to ‘Mile Long Bridge’ and road construction on Walker to begin this week; reduced speeds in effect
Breckenridge and Stephens County are scheduled for additional repairs/road work by the Texas Department of Transportation with two separate projects beginning this week. The projects will include work on the “Mile Long Bridge” over Hubbard Creek Lake (Reservoir) and work on West Walker Street from downtown Breckenridge to the bridge, according to reports.

Rising Star, TX — Residents of Rising Star are beginning cleanup efforts after most of their town flooded from Saturday night's heavy rains. "It started raining last night at about 7... we ended up here in town with about nine and a half inches of rain," said Jim Carpenter.
MHS boys to compete at regionals
The Moran boys doubles tam of CalebYork and Ellis Hise will compete in the Region II-1A tennis tournament Thursday-Friday, May 9-10 at San Angelo. A top-two finish at the regional tournament will earn the duo a berth in the Class 1A state tournament, scheduled for Thursday-Friday, May 16-17 at Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio. In cases where the thirdplace winner and championship loser have not met, a playback will determine the second qualifier.
