Boys golf: Wang, DiGuglielmo and O'Keefe surge into top 15 at NYSPHSAA championship

Eastchester sophomore Yiwen Wang carded rounds of 76 and 77 at Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira on Sunday and Monday to lead all Section 1 golfers at the NYSPHSAA championship with a 9-over par total of 153. He wound up in 12 place. John Jay-Cross River senior Dean DiGuglielmo (154) and Bronxville senior Greydon O'Keefe (155) improved significantly in the final round to finish inside the top 15, as well.

Section 1 champion Leo Chu finished in 29th place at 15-over.

Union-Endicott junior Dante Bertoni birdied the first playoff hole to hold off Victor sophomore Brody Burgess. They were both 4-over for the championship.

Section 5 easily won the team championship, finishing 41 strokes ahead of Section 11 with a 52-over total of 1,060. Section 1 was third at 96-over par.

Section 1 finished in third place at the NYSPHSAA Boys Golf Championship at Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira. Eastchester sophomore Yiwen Wang led the way at 9-over par.
