East Stroudsburg University plays elimination game Saturday in NCAA Softball Championships

The sixth-seeded East Stroudsburg University softball team will take on seventh-seed Nova Southeastern on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in an elimination game in the NCAA Division II Softball Championships.

East Stroudsburg played its first game ever in the NCAA Softball Championships on Thursday, but lost 6-2 to No. 3 North Georgia.

Kaitlin Houser gave ESU a 1-0 lead after an RBI single with two outs in the top of the second. However, North Georgia took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning after an RBI single of their own and an error that brought in another run.

North Georgia was able to add three runs in the in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. North Georgia added one more run in the bottom of the sixth.

East Stroudsburg was able to cut the lead to 6-2 after an RBI single from Jada Smallwood in the top of the seventh, but was unable to get any closer.

Leigh Ann Jenkins took with the loss for ESU, but allowed just two earned runs in six innings.
