East Ridge Looking to Renovate Gym

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – The city of East Ridge hopes that they will soon be able to renovate their community gym.

The gym is located next to City Hall at their East Ridge Community Center.

They are intending to apply for the Local Parks and Recreation Fund through the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

They are hoping to receive up to a million dollars for this renovation.

If selected, a renovated gym could mean East Ridge’s gym could host tournaments and other big events.

The administrator for East Ridge’s Economic and Community Development Department, Cameron McAllister, said, “We are super excited for this project and what it means for the city, and what it means for the amenities for the center here in East Ridge. The community center was built in the early 90s and we have not been able to update any of our major facilities within our parks and rec department since then.”

East Ridge has received this grant before to build the Pioneer Frontier Playground and Splashpad through a 20-18 grant.

They have until April 15th to complete their application.

They will hold a public hearing on this grant Thursday night at 7 pm at East Ridge City Hall.
