Soggy Start to the Week: Off & On Rain Through Tuesday Morning

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The storm that we’ve been talking about the past several days continues to spin just south of Long Island, NY. The storm has been weakening and will continue to do so as it starts to move to the east/northeast through the Gulf of Maine and off to our east over the next 24-36 hours. Moisture wrapping around the storm will keep us under cloudy skies today with periods of rain off and on throughout the day. Some of the rain could be heavy at times too. It’ll be breezy with northeast winds gusting to 20-30 MPH at times... especially closer to the coast. The clouds and rain will keep us on the cooler side today with highs only in the low to mid-50s. Periods of rain will continue... off and on... through the night tonight. Temperatures won’t move much with lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

It will be breezy especially along the coast with some gusts to near 35 mph into Sunday but generally tonight into tomorrow will be mainly cloudy with showers possible along the coast. From the Bangor region on north it will be a mainly dry but generally cloudy. Highs will generally fall in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Nor'easter threatens power outages, flooding on New Hampshire coast

The nor'easter barreling its way toward New England is expected to drench part of the region with a soaking rain, and could cause damage with severe winds and flooding from Sept. 25 through Sept. 27. New Hampshire and Maine will not see as severe a storm as southern New England, but the National Weather Service (NWS) of Gray, Maine still predicts that "a prolonged period of soaking rain, gusty winds, high surf, and coastal flooding are likely into early next week." Wondering when the storm will hit, and what exactly it will bring? Here's the latest nor'easter forecast for New Hampshire. Timing of nor'easter in New Hampshire The National Weather Service says to expect dry weather with seasonably cool temperatures throughout the day on Friday, Sept. 25, with rain showers moving through the southern part of the state at night. Rather than a total washout, the NWS currently forecasts a soaking, yet beneficial rain, with the best chances for 1 to 2 inches of rain in southern New Hampshire and southwestern Maine.
