Lansing Resident Participates in Reality Version of 'Squid Game: The Challenge'
• Eddie Morris, a 30-year-old man from Lansing, Michigan, competed in a reality version of the South Korean Netflix series "Squid Game" called "Squid Game: The Challenge." • Morris secured a spot as Player 43 and was in the running for a $4.56 million prize. He described the experience as very similar to the original show, including living in dorms that resembled the show's set.

EAST LANSING — Ever wonder what Michigan State University looked like 100 years ago? These photographs from the United States National Archives give us a glimpse of life on campus during the early 20th century.The pictures, part of a National Archives collection from the Detroit Publishing Company, a photographic publishing firm that started in Detroit in the 1890s and operated until 1932, feature familiar scenes from around the East Lansing campus taken between 1905 and 1920 — well before the high-rise, luxury student apartments and traffic-clogged streets existed.

Shop with a Hero: ‘Best day ever’
MASON, Mich. (WILX) - Thursday, Dec. 7, was the 22nd annual “Shop with a Hero” event at the Mason Meijer. “We were able to bring 80 kids in this year and have them shop with a hero, so a first responder from the area, they get a gift card to shop with them, they get to see Santa, we give the families a food basket, it’s really a great event,” said Captain Andrew Daenzer with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Michigan bar and restaurant employees fighting to keep tip system
LANSING, Mich. (WJRT) - Restaurant and bar employees from across Michigan were in Lansing on Tuesday, fighting to prevent lawmakers from changing the tipped wage system. A proposal was presented in 2018 to increase wages for tipped workers from $3.84 an hour up to anywhere from $12 to $14 an hour.

New Music Venue Grewal Hall Showcased at Local Silver Bells Event
Grewal Hall, a new music venue, hosted an open house during the 30th annual Silver Bells in the City event in downtown Lansing on November 17. The event drew around 50,000 attendees, many of whom were interested in the new venue. Kevin Meyer, co-owner of Grewal Hall, used the event to showcase the venue, inviting attendees inside for hot chocolate and a tour.

LANSING — The Lansing-area food scene welcomed a mix of new chain and locally owned eateries in 2023 that included more than two dozen restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Franchise ice cream spot Baskin-Robbins and chain restaurant Olive Garden both opened locations in Delta Township, while Michigan-based Mediterranean eatery Pita Way established locations in both East Lansing and DeWitt.
