Dog dies in fire at East Greenwich home

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WJAR) —
A dog has died in a fire at an East Greenwich home.

Fire Chief Bernard Peteanaude said the fire broke out around 4 p.m. on Tuesday on the first floor of a home on Cedar Ave.
According to Petanaude, the fire extended to one room and led to smoke damage throughout the house.
When firefighters and EMS crews arrived at the scene, Peteanaude said the dog succumbed to injuries.
Nobody was home at the time and no other injuries were reported, according to Peteanaude.

Peteanaude told NBC 10 the home is not livable and the family is making their own arrangements.
