East Greenwich Police asking for help identifying fraudulent check suspect
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Greenwich Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a suspect accused of trying to pass fraudulent checks. The department said the suspect was captured on surveillance video passing a fraudulent check at a bank in East Greenwich and that other agencies have reported “similar incidents.”

Cranston man sentence to life in prison for kidnapping and assault
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cranston man has been sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping and assault of two females in 2020. Attorney General Peter F. Neronha has announced that 38-year-old Luis Martinez-Romero pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping of a minor, one count of first-degree child molestation, and one count of first-degree sexual assault. Martinez-Romero was ordered sex offender registration and counseling, as well a no contact order.
