Hope For Hope: Abandoned Dog Unites East Grand Rapids Neighborhood to Save A Life

I can't be the only person who has to practically change to channel whenever one of those heartbreaking ASPCA commercials with the mistreated puppies.

I've always had a soft spot for animals in need, that's why all of my pets are rescues. With so many pets looking for their forever home, it seems silly to pay a breeder for a dog that may have come into this world in a cruel way.

In fact, my own dog Tulip was found abandoned in the streets of Detroit after some jerk dumped her when they were finished breeding her. Her ears are clipped, and we assume that was because she may have been used to fight, too.

And that's what they think happened to a dog who was found, exhausted and near death in East Grand Rapids on Friday.

The dog, now named 'Hope', was trying to cross the street from the woods she was likely dumped in, when she got so tired she just gave up and laid down in the road.

Thankfully, several neighbors helped Hope get to an Animal Hospital where she is now on the road to recovery.

There has been a facebook group created to help follow Hope's journey to getting healthy and better, and a recent update shows that they are looking for the person responsible for abandoning her.

So, when I saw the story of Hope the dog, I knew that this was another Tulip who needed a home and a little love. So here's your friendly reminder: adopt, don't shop. That's the only way we can stop these greedy breeders from hurting these sweet dogs.
