Red Lobster on Route 18 in East Brunswick, which was temporarily closed after a fire in August, is expected to reopen later this year.

"Currently, we project a late fall opening – specifically November," Robert Stamm, chief facilities and development officer for Red Lobster, said in a statement.

Renovation plans have been submitted to the township and the restaurant is awaiting permits, Stamm said.

"Once those are received, we will begin construction," he said. "We are expecting the permitting process to be complete in the next 45 days."

Red Lobster, at 750 Route 18 northbound, across from the Brunswick Square Mall, temporarily closed after an early morning fire on Aug. 5, 2022.

East Brunswick police and East Brunswick Fire District 1 responded around 1:42 a.m. to the restaurant. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no civilians, officers or firefighters were injured, police said.

Stamm said the renovated restaurant will incorporate some of the chain's latest enhancements and innovations.

"We are excited about reopening and serving our loyal guests in East Brunswick," he said.
