Brown County resident dies in two-vehicle crash Friday

BROWNWOOD - A 79-year-old resident of Early died at the scene of an early morning, two-vehicle crash 1.3 miles east of here on FM 2126..

Pronounced dead by a justice of the peace was Francis Thomas Montagna.

The Department of Public Safety did not report injury information on the occupants of the other vehicle.

According to the DPS, Montagna was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion south on the farm-to-market road at about 3:42 a.m. when it crossed into the northbound lane at a curve. He struck a 2023 Freightliner semi towing a trailer, operated by Abdurahman Hussein Mohamed, 32, of South Sioux City, Neb.

His passenger was Muhumud Alasow Mahad, 28, of the same city.

The vehicles collided head on.

Weather conditions were clear and dry.

Montagna was not wearing a seat belt. The truck driver was belted, according to the DPS.
