Lucky Buffet opens in Familiar Location with New Name
Lucky Buffet opened on Tuesday September 19th in a familiar location but with new ownership, new upper management, and a new name. They are ready to bring authentic Chinese flavors to Brown County and the local community. Located in the former Gomez Restaurant building at 716 W Commerce Street in Brownwood, their hours of operation will be Monday – Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday & Saturday 11-9:30, & Sunday 11-9pm.
Museum of History Accepts Generous Donation from Burns
Today the Brown County Museum of History accepted a generous donation of $150,000 from Dr. Paul and Toni Burns. Dr. Burns is a fourth-generation native of Brown County. After spending his professional career as a medical doctor in Austin, he retired back to the family ranch in Brown County. The ranch was founded by his great-grandfather in 1873. Dr. and Mrs. Burns’ donation amount is in recognition of his family’s 150-year history in Brown County. Since moving back to the family ranch, Burns has worked tirelessly to restore the family ranch, including the landscape. His efforts have been recognized with the Lone Star Steward Award from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Brownwood Regional Landfill Transforms Brush into Mulch for Local Gardeners
The Brownwood Regional Landfill and Recycling Center is turning brush piles into mulch. They use machines to grind about 15,000 cubic yards of mulch. The Sanitation Department transports the collected brush to the recycling center. Here, it's changed into compost piles.

Fishing Reports 9/20/23
The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of September 20:. GOOD. Water slightly stained; 82-83 degrees; 7.67 feet below pool. Black bass to 7.21 pounds are fair on jigs and shaky heads. Black bass to 6.84 pounds on crankbaits and frogs in 2-15 feet. Crappie are slow in brush piles and around the docks on minnows in 8-12 feet of water. White bass are fair to 1.00 pounds schooling everywhere on jigs and small moving baits and under the lights on crankbaits and small jigs. Catfish are slow to 8 pounds using prepared or cut bait on jug lines, or rod and reels.

The Turtle and Library to Hold Book Sale
Mary Stanley, owner of the Turtle Enoteca, announced The Turtle will participate in the 2023 Campari National Day of Service. Black bass to 5.75 pounds are fair on jigs, shaky heads, crankbaits and frogs in 2-15 feet of water. Crappie are slow in brush piles and around docks on minnows in 12-16 feet of water. White bass are slow to 1.00 pound under the lights and schooling using jigs and small moving baits. Catfish are fair to 5 pounds on jug lines using prepared and cut bait.
8th Annual Corks and Caps is Scheduled for Saturday, October 7th in Brownwood
Make plans to attend the 8th Annual Corks and Caps presented by Visit Brownwood. The event is set for Saturday, October 7th from 6 pm–11 pm at the Depot Plaza in Brownwood. Corks and Caps will feature tastings of beer and wine from breweries and wineries located around the region. All wineries will have bottles of their signature wines for sale. Several food trucks will be featured at the event offering a variety of food and desserts with live music throughout the event.
