Breauna Vaughn missing updates — Oregon teen found after disappearing into mystery car without her belongings

POLICE have provided an update in the search for an Oregon teen who they say left home without a phone, money, coat, or medications.

Breauna Vaughn, 17, was last seen near the Estacada and Eagle Creek area on Thursday, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office previously revealed to The U.S. Sun that there was no suspected “evidence of foul play or criminal activity” in Breauna Vaughn’s case.

The department provided an update this morning that Breauna has been found safe. There is no further information on her disappearance during this time.

Police have revealed that Breauna Vaughn was found safe.

In an update to their Facebook, they wrote: "Our missing juvenile has been located safely. Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word."

Lowest-ranked state for missing persons revealed

With 2.32 missing persons per 100,000 residents, Massachusetts has the lowest rate of missing persons, the World Population Review revealed.

The rates of missing persons under 3.5 per 100,000 are lower in Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, South Dakota, Ohio, Virginia, and New Hampshire.

Highest-ranked state for missing persons revealed

With 3,010 missing people, California has the highest number of missing people overall, per World Population Review.

However, the Golden State has an average rate of 7.61 people missing per 100,000 residents.

With 163.76 missing persons per 100,000 residents, Alaska has the highest rate of missing persons by far, higher than any other state.

Missing person cases are typically resolved quickly

Fortunately, most situations involving missing persons are settled quickly, according to the World Population Review.

For instance, out of the 521,705 cases of missing persons reported in 2021, over 485,000 were found to be resolved within the year.

Since around a million people were reported missing in 1997, the number of missing person cases has been gradually declining.

Communication has made it simpler to monitor and stay in touch with people during the past 20 years, which has led to a 40% decrease in missing person reports.

Nevertheless, 14,000 unidentified body cases and more than 20,000 missing person cases are still pending.

Tens of thousands go missing yearly

Over 600,000 individuals go missing every year, according to the U.S. Department of Justice-funded National Missing and Unidentified Persons (NamUS) database.

Every year, about 4,400 unidentifiable bodies are found.

Approximately 6.5 persons go missing nationwide for every 100,000 people.

Oregon is ranked No. 13 for missing persons

The state of Oregon has the 13th-highest number of missing people in the United States.

There are currently 527 open cases, according to World Population Review.

The current rate of missing people is 12.48 per 100,000.

Brallier was not taking her medication, which alarmed her family and the authorities, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

But according to a January 5 update, Brallier was discovered the previous evening near Hillsboro, according to information provided to the Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit.

“Thanks to all who helped look for her,” officials said.

'No evidence of foul play or criminal activity'

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has revealed to The U.S. Sun that there is no suspected "evidence of foul play or criminal activity" in Breauna Vaughn's case at the time.

"This is an open and active investigation involving a missing juvenile," a representative from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office told the U.S. Sun. "While we don’t have any additional details to share, we don’t believe there is any danger to the general public. At this time, there is no evidence of foul play or criminal activity. We continue to ask anyone with information on Breauna Vaughn’s location to report that to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office."

Second Oregon disappearance in just weeks

The news of Breauna Vaughn's disappearance comes just a few weeks after the Portland Police Bureau in Oregon declared the recovery of a teenage girl who had been reported missing.

Authorities said that 16-year-old Emily Brallier was last seen on January 2 leaving Franklin High School, but she ended up not returning to her home in the Southeast Woodstock Boulevard and Southeast 65th Avenue neighborhood.

Community sending prayers

People are sending their thoughts and prayers to Breauna, hoping that she is found safe.

"Having a daughter the same age, my heart breaks for her mom. Has to feel like a nightmare," commented one person. "Sending hugs and prayers."

Neighborhood watching

It is requested that locals living along Elm Road and Lakeshore Drive go over home camera footage from last Thursday from 3:15 to 4:30 pm.

Breauna may have been spotted exiting a red 4x4 and entering a second vehicle around the area, per a missing person poster.

Teen left home without personal effects

"Left home without phone, money, coat and medications," read a missing person poster about Breauna.

“Looking for Bree getting out of one vehicle, walking unknown distance nearby, and then getting into a second vehicle,” another poster states.

Notify police if information arises

Authorities are encouraging the public to notify them if there is any word of Breauna's whereabouts.

Those who have any information about the missing adolescent should call 911 or the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office's non-emergency phone number 503-655-8211.

Keep on the lookout for Breauna

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office shared some details to help the public identify Breauna if she's seen.

"She is described as 5'6", 115 lbs., with brown eyes and blonde hair," read the sheriff's office Facebook post on the matter.

"She may be wearing a black hat, white hooded sweatshirt, black vest, and dark jeans."

Frantic search underway

Seventeen-year-old Breauna Vaughn is missing.

The teen was last seen on January 18, 2024, in the area of Estacada and Eagle Creek.
