Duke University Blue Devils

Signee Spotlight: Kyle Massey

Kyle Massey plays with her club field hockey team Texas Pride

The Duke field hockey program is thrilled to welcome four newcomers to the Blue Devil family this fall. The group hails from three different states – New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas – and one country – The Netherlands.

Over the coming weeks, we will profile each of the incoming Blue Devils. This week, we learn a little more about Houston, Texas native Kyle Massey.

Pam Bustin on Kyle
"Kyle comes to Duke with the same incredible energy that caught our attention many years ago. Her love for the game is evident whenever you see her with her teammates, on the field, or just talking about the game. She is lethal in the circle and persistent on defense. Through her longtime training with club Texas Pride, Kyle has developed a strong fundamental foundation in which we are excited to build upon. Duke True takes great pride in our humble, but relentless work ethic and Kyle fits that profile. Her intensity and respect for the game will naturally be accepted and challenged by her new teammates. We cannot wait to see Kyle in the Duke True mix!"

About Kyle Massey
Coming to Durham from a non-traditional field hockey city of Houston, Texas, Massey brings with her an incredible resumé. She played her high school hockey for Jackie Ciconte at The Kincaid School, scoring 89 goals and dishing out 59 assists for 237 points in her scholastic career. The 89 tallies are a Kincaid School record.

She showed constant improvement from year-to-year with Kincaid, notching 13 goals and 22 assists her freshman campaign to scoring 36 goals her senior year. She was a two-time captain for the Falcons and earned first-team All-America honors from the NFHCA for her efforts this past fall.

Recognized by MAX Field Hockey as one of the nation's top 100 players throughout her time at Kincaid, Massey is a two-time All-West/Midwest Region first-team pick and garnered second-team All-America recognition from the organization as a senior.

She helped lead Kincaid to the SPC title in 2021 and was voted the NFHCA High School Player of the Month in 2020 en route to leading the Falcons to a perfect 10-0 record. A two-time All-SPC selection in field hockey, Massey also lettered all four years in lacrosse.

She was an all-state selection her sophomore and junior year and served as captain as a senior. After having her freshman campaign canceled due to COVID-19, Massey came out and led all scorers on the lacrosse field with 37 goals and notched 40 as a junior.

Massey plays her club lacrosse with Texas Pride Field Hockey Club. She was instrumental in leading the team to a fourth-place finish at the National Club Championships and the Disney Tournament title in 2022. The club is ranked second among U-19 programs.

With USA Field Hockey, Massey is a Rise National Team Selection Camp in 2021 and most recently invited to the 2022 U18 National Team Selection Camp.
