The Duluth Huskies took to the field at Wade Stadium on Sunday for their first practice of the 2023 season.

More than 10 players who were on the roster last season have returned, with a hunger to complete some unfinished business.

As last year the team advanced all the way to the league championship against Kalamazoo, but fell 8-3 for the program’s 4th runner-up finish.

“Realistically, the goal is to get into the playoffs and then once you get in, then it’s anybody’s game. So our goal is to get into the playoffs and then from there the chips fall where they may. But we’re again a competitive group and we’re trying to do everything we can to win,” said head coach Marcus Pointer.

“A new group of guys so it’s a little different, but we’re going to gel and we’re going to do the best we can. There’s a lot of great players here. So we’re going to do really well this year, I think,” added returning infielder Michael Hallquist.

The Duluth Huskies’ season opener is set for May 29th at Bismarck, and their home opener is June 2nd versus Minot.
