Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers confirmed to 6 News that a special preliminary hearing was held Thursday for Zachery Dodson, the off-duty officer accused of shooting another man last month at a DuBois business.
Sayers says that following the two-hour hearing, the judge, a senior magistrate from Centre County, dismissed some of Dodson's charges.
Online court records show that one count each of felony aggravated assault, attempted aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment were dismissed.
Sayers says that the judge did not provide a reason for dismissing the charges but adds that his office will continue to prosecute the case.
The Commonwealth is disappointed that the senior magistrate dismissed multiple charges following a lengthy preliminary hearing. In the interest of justice, we are considering our legal options and we will continue to prosecute this matter to the fullest extent of the law.
Court records show that the rest of Dodson's charges have been held for court and his next court date is scheduled for April 12th.
