Court filing addresses “just compensation”
The drug store chain CVS has placed South Carolina DOT on notice that it is challenging what the state agency deems just compensation for taking of land in the vicinity of the Seneca CVS. And the Charleston law firm representing CVS recently filed in the Oconee Common Pleas Court notice that it seeks a jury trial on the issue of just compensation. The issue has ramifications for DOT’s plans to rework the traffic light East End Seneca intersection for the 123 ByPass at SC 130. For real property DOT wishes to acquire for the intersection project, the state agency has offered around $40 thousand dollars for two sets of rights-of-way. Empty Seneca storefront in line to be re-habbed
The owners of 329 Main Street, Seneca, received the OK last night to go forward with changes to the front and back of the empty store building. Representing his partners, Danny Delmarco left City Hall last night with the approval of a certificate of appropriateness. The Board of Architectural Review (BOAR) gave meticulous attention to the certificate application, to be satisfied that the changes to both the front and the back of the building align with the city’s design review guidelines. The building owners as yet do not have a purpose in mind for the building, but Delmarco explained the goal at this point is to create a shell of a building that’ll suit a future tenant. He does not rule out the possibility that 329 Main can be made suitable for a couple of businesses.
