The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will be conducting "Active Threat" training at two Roseburg elementary schools from Tuesday to Thursday this week.
Held at Sunnyslope School, and Green Elementary, DCSO is taking advantage of Roseburg Public School's Spring Break when students and staff are off for the week.
The goal of these training is to be better prepared for active threat situations at public schools.
DCSO wants to stress to those in the area that while it may appear an emergency is active and ongoing, it is a training exercise and nothing to be afraid of.
"As always, the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office strive daily to uphold our core values of efficiency in our work, integrity, commitment to the highest performance standards and pride in our professional level of service. This training session is just one of the ways that we accomplish that," said Sheriff John Hanlin.
These trainings will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
