Chicken Shack to reopen Lake Murray restaurant after Swadley's, Lookout Kitchen failures
Correction: Brent Swadley, who operated Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchens at Oklahoma's state parks, was sentenced to six years probation on Oct. 22. The duration of Swadley's probation was incorrect in an earlier version of this story. Chicken Shack , a popular stop along Route 66 in Arcadia, is set to reopen the restaurant at Lake Murray State Lodge near Ardmore following two failed attempts by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation to place all its park eateries under one operator. State tourism officials announced Wednesday, Oct. 28, the 6,000-square-foot restaurant, formerly home to Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchen and Lookout Kitchen , is expected to open this winter. “Lake Murray is one of Oklahoma’s most visited state parks, and we want every part of the experience we provide there to reflect what makes it such a special destination,” said Amy Blackburn, executive director of the state tourism department. “Bringing Chicken Shack into the lodge gives our guests another quality amenity and a place to gather and enjoy their time at the park. Chicken Shack brings an established Oklahoma brand, a strong concept and a commitment to becoming part of the Lake Murray community.” More: As Oklahoma works to revive Route

It was a new construction project, and the tree-laden lot sat beside a peaceful pond. The area’s woods and water were the stars, so Crooks—along with architect Brent Gibson and builder John Matteson—constructed a home to complement the landscape, rather than compete with it.
