Body found off Gillionville; DOCO PD & Coroner still investigating

The victim was found partially submerged in water and without any form of identification.

DOUGHERTY Co., Ga. – Monday afternoon an unidentified male was found deceased behind the dog park located on Gillionville Road.

Coroner Fowler says it’s very possible the body could have been there for at least a week…

“I responded along with law enforcement to a location off of Gillionville road, but back in a ravine,” said Coroner Fowler.

Fowler says it’s possible this discovery could be the answer to a recent missing person’s report, which we were not given many details on.

“They have a missing person, the family called in, but we don’t know if it’s a definite yet. We have to prove that’s him,” said Coroner Fowler.

The victim was found partially submerged in water and without any form of identification.

Fowler’s priority is restoring John Doe’s true identity and giving a family closure as to what happened to their loved one.

However, Fowler does not suspect foul play at this time.

“Main thing is trying to find out who the person is, did they have any medical condition and back track to find out why would they be there. Were they fishing? Were they just walking? Did somebody place them there? We just don’t know yet until we finish getting fingerprints and get some DNA,” said Coroner Fowler.

The victim was taken to the GBI lab in Moultrie where an autopsy is currently being performed and Coroner Fowler says it’s possible to have those results by the end of the day.
