Man accused of murdering Dothan man in his sleep denied youthful offender status: DA

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A 20-year-old Georgia man has been denied youthful offender in the Capital Murder case of a Dothan man.

According to Houston County District Attorney Russ Goodman, Solomon Cooper, of Climax, Georgia, was denied youthful offender status on Thursday, June 1.

Cooper is accused of killing 20-year-old Sincere Tyson, who was shot at least once while sleeping in his Abbey-Oaks apartment after a birthday party in October 2021. On December 8, 2021, Dothan investigators listed Cooper as a person of interest and after a continued investigation, he was charged with one count of capital murder-burglary in the first degree.

In November 2021, Cooper was taken into custody in Muscogee County, Georgia on separate charges.

Also in early December 2021,  Zycheria Markesha Russ was named the second suspect in the Tyson murder and was taken into custody by federal agents in Bainbridge, Georgia.

Russ was also denied youthful offender status in March 2023.

The third suspect in the case has not been named.
