Michigan Auto Law has released their annual list of the 20 most dangerous intersections in the state. The majority are in metro Detroit, specifically Macomb and Oakland counties, and five of them, including No. 1, are roundabouts, which road engineers have touted for their ability to reduce fatalities and serious injury crashes. Here is the list of the most dangerous intersections in the state according to 2025 crash data gleaned from the Michigan State Police and analyzed by Michigan Auto Law: 1. 18 1/2 Mile Road at Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights (roundabout): 210 crashes, 12 injuries The total number of crashes jumped 29.6% from 162 in 2024. Total crashes in previous years were: 2023 (135), 2022 (118), 2021 (168), 2020 (131), 2019 (229). The total number of injuries stayed the same as in 2024. 2. 11 Mile Road/I-696 at Van Dyke Avenue in Warren/Center Line : 180 crashes, one fatality, and 33 injuries The total number of crashes decreased by 2.7% from 185 crashes in 2024. Soaring diesel prices squeeze truckers, farmers as costs hit consumers

DETROIT — Paul Russo can't afford to absorb the rising cost of diesel. The president of Wayne-based Wayne Industries, a steel hauler, has levied a fuel surcharge for about a decade. But as diesel fuel prices have climbed, the percentage he adds to his trucking rates has climbed with them. Russo now is charging a 45% fuel surcharge on his trucking rates to help offset the cost of diesel, which recently surpassed $6 a gallon. “I cannot let it linger because all of a sudden I'm eating all that,” Russo said. “I can't afford to eat that.
