After nearly 15 years of serving the Whitman community, McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan's have announced their decision to sell. The owners, the Rosen and DaPonte families, shared this news in a heartfelt statement to their community.

The announcement comes as the families prepare for new chapters in their lives. As they stated, "After almost 15 years in business, our family feels that the timing is right for us to start our next adventures- which include the start of a new family and retirement." The owners expressed deep gratitude to their staff and customers, emphasizing the family-like atmosphere that has been cultivated over the years. "We truly feel that the members of our staff and loyal clientele are like family, and that is what we will miss the most from these restaurants!" they shared.

While the news may come as a surprise to many, the owners have assured that the transition will be smooth. According to the statement, "McGuiggan’s Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan’s will continue to be in operation into October (final date tbd), when the change of ownership will begin its smooth transition. At that time, the restaurants will close for a very short amount of time and will reopen as two new restaurants."

The new owners, described as "established restaurateurs," plan to keep much of the current staff. This decision has been welcomed by the current owners, who stated, "We are pleased to share that the new owners plan to keep on as many members of the current staff that wish to be part of the new restaurants!" For those holding gift cards, there's good news. The statement also confirms, "Once the new restaurants open, any unused McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan's gift cards will still be honored for up to one year."

While change can be challenging, the Rosen and DaPonte families are optimistic about the future. They expressed, "We know that change can be difficult, but we feel that all the changes happening will be positive ones for the staff, customers and the community as a whole."

As McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan's prepare to close this chapter, they leave behind a legacy of community, family, and great service. The owners concluded their statement with a heartfelt thank you: "We sincerely thank you again for supporting McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan's for all these years!"

The Whitman community will undoubtedly miss McGuiggan's as it has been, but can look forward to the new restaurants that will take its place, continuing the tradition of bringing people together over good food and drink.
