What Should You Do If You Spot Vineyard Wind Debris?

    2024-08-23

On August 21, 2024, Vineyard Wind confirmed that pieces of foam found on Hyannisport beaches originated from a damaged turbine blade. This incident has prompted the Town of Barnstable to issue important guidelines for residents regarding the handling and reporting of such debris.

    • Do not handle the debris: Only trained Vineyard Wind employees or contractors should collect and remove the debris.
    • Proper disposal is crucial: Do not put any debris in your home garbage or bring it to the Barnstable Transfer Station.
    • Report immediately: If you spot any debris in the water or along Barnstable shorelines, contact Vineyard Wind's Debris Reporting Hotline at 781-831-1134 to allow assigned crews to manage the proper recovery and clean-up of debris.

    Reporting Methods:

    1. Phone: Call 781-831-1134 for quicker service.
    2. Online: Report debris at https://vineyardwind1.ethicspoint.com.
