Tomorrow night, the 2024 NFL Draft will take place at Campus Martius Park, giving football fans in Michigan a reason to celebrate. On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions gave their fans a reason to start celebrating early thanks to reaching a new deal with Amon-Ra St. Brown.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Lions are signing St. Brown to a four-year, $120 million contract extension, with up to $77 million fully guaranteed. This makes the All-Pro the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL today.

While the actual contract figures will tell the real story, for now, St. Brown’s deal is advertised as one that features an annual average value of $30 million per season. It’s a surprising figure, but he is coming off the best season of his career.

St. Brown may be the highest-paid WR in the NFL right now, but his reign won’t last long. Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson is expected to become the highest-paid non-QB as soon as he signs an extension with the Vikings, which will surely surpass St. Brown.

After recording 912 yards in his rookie season, St. Brown upped his production to 1,161 yards in his second year while reaching the Pro Bowl. Last year was the first time he reached All-Pro status. Still just 24, St. Brown was headed into the final year of his contract after becoming a fourth-round pick back in 2021.
