MELVINDALE (WWJ) - A Detroit woman wanted for the gruesome murder and mutilation of her 39-year-old boyfriend five years ago this week has made the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) 15 Most Wanted Fugitives list.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for tips leading to the arrest of Tamera Renee Williams, 44, who disappeared after the 2018 murder of David D. Carter, Sr. of Melvindale.
Williams has a warrant for first-degree homicide, disinterring a dead body, mutilation and tampering with evidence after police claim she killed and dismembered Carter's body before stuffing it into a sleeping bag and dumping it along the freeway.
Carter's remains were found on October 1, 2019 when the sleeping bag was spotted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol along I-75. Carter been missing since September 30, 2018, when he didn't show up for work, according to friends and family.
Williams has not been seen or heard from since mid-October 2018 when she was identified as a person of interest in Carter's death.
She is known to be a world traveler and has ties throughout the U.S., the Marshals Service said, and has close involvement with the Order of the Eastern Star, a Masonic fraternal organization open to both men and women.
Williams is described as a 39-year-old black female, 5’5” tall and approximately 190 lbs. with brown eyes and hair. She has a large tattoo of roses on her left shoulder. It is important to note that she has possibly changed her hair style and color.
She should be considered armed and dangerous.
Crime Stoppers has been actively involved in efforts to collect tips into he case, stating earlier in the investigation that Carter was a father who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of his son, and that of countless others as a beloved volunteer with the Melvindale Jr. Football League.
He was also the entrepreneur behind “Lavish Habits Clothing,” and also worked full-time at the Magna Seating Plant in Highland Park.
