DETROIT (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after two people were shot during an event at Detroit’s Rouge Park on Saturday night.

Detroit police officials tell WWJ officers responded to the area of Joy and Outer Drive near the Dearborn Heights border around 8 p.m. after getting a call from a woman who reported she was shot.

Authorities say a man was also shot. Officials didn’t release the age of either victim, but say both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

No one had been arrested as of Saturday night, and it was not clear whether police had identified any suspects.

Detroit Police Chief James White said during a press conference regarding a separate shooting Saturday night that a “fraternity party type of situation” got out of control.

The event, called “Juice Wars,” drew more people than organizers expected, with about 6,000 people in attendance.

Detroit police shut the event down.

“Again, it’s just bringing guns to parties for no real reason and having to be tough because you got a gun. So we’re gonna shut the party down and get people home safely,” White said.
