DETROIT (WWJ) -- Amazon is going on a hiring spree in Detroit.

In collaboration with Detroit at Work, Amazon announced Thursday that it is looking to fill 1,200 full-time shipping and receiving positions ahead of the 2023 launch of its new fulfillment center in Detroit.

Amazon is offering a $19-an-hour starting wage, along with full benefits — including healthcare, 401(k) with a 50% match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave and access to Amazon’s Career Choice program, which pays full college tuition for employees at hundreds of education partners across the country, including six colleges and universities in Michigan.

“We are very excited to not only offer well-paid job opportunities to local Detroit residents, but also comprehensive benefits to all employees beginning day one of employment at Amazon,” said Kyle DeGiulio, Manager of Economic Development Policy for Amazon.

Those who register with Detroit at Work will be notified first to apply for these positions.

Amazon and Detroit at Work will be hosting informational sessions open to Detroit residents both virtually and in-person. If you are interested in further information, visit detroitatwork.com/amazon to register.
