A two-part exhibition brings fashion designer Geoffrey Beene’s work home to Louisiana
Throughout his life and landmark career, Haynesville, Louisiana, native and renowned fashion designer Geoffrey Beene often called back to his southern roots. From gingham and seersucker to magnolias and camellias, Beene’s work, especially under the firm he established under his own name in 1963, came alive through his visionary eye. Today, many of his garments are on view in his home state in exhibitions at the LSU Museum of Art and the LSU Textile and Costume Museum.
Auctioneering contest celebrates industry
In March, livestock auctioneers from across a wide swath of the country came to the Eastern Missouri Commission livestock auction in Bowling Green, Missouri, to compete. It was the first Border Wars Auctioneer Contest, open to auctioneers who work in Missouri or any of the eight states that border it.
