DENVER — The Denver Police Department (DPD) is investigating a shooting involving officers in the 4800 block of Eliot Street. That's near Federal Boulevard and Interstate 70 in Denver.
At about 3:45 a.m., officers from the Thornton Police Department (TPD) were called to the area of West 100th Avenue and Quivas Street for a report of a burglary, according to DPD Chief Ron Thomas. TPD officers located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle from the burglary and began a pursuit, Thomas said.
The pursuit entered Denver and ended at West 48th Avenue and Eliot where the vehicle crashed into a retaining barrier and the occupants of the vehicle, two men, fled. The passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody nearby without incident, according to Thomas.
The driver of the vehicle fired shots at TPD officers, according to police. A TPD officer returned fire, striking the driver, police said. No officers were injured in the shooting. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, Thomas said.
There were no officers from DPD who were involved in the shooting, Thomas said.
