Report: Broncos Meeting With Texas LB DeMarvion Overshown

The 2023 NFL draft scouting process continues apace for the Denver Broncos. The latest has the Broncos holding a top-30 visit with Texas Longhorns linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, per 9NEWS' Mike Klis.
"Per source, the Broncos are flying in Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown for a top 30 visit April 18 at team headquarters. He's 6-2 1/2, 229, described as a rangy athlete who can play inside and outside," Klis tweeted on Friday.
Overshown (6-foot-3, 229 pounds) is an athletic defensive weapon who converted from safety to linebacker at Texas. What should make this visit particularly intriguing for Broncos Country is that Overshown's draft stock — which is, admittedly, an inexact science — has most draftniks projecting him as a third-round pick.
It just so happens that the Broncos won't go on the clock for the first time in next month's draft until Round 3 (pick No. 67). It's possible Overshown could be in play there.

Overall, Overshown’s athletic profile of size and speed will make him one of the most intriguing defensive prospects in this draft. It appears that Overshown’s effectiveness at the next level will be based on teams capitalizing on his versatility and aligning him in positions where he can use his size and athleticism to make plays instead of placing him only in traditional linebacker alignments.
As a red-shirt senior, Overshown totaled 96 tackles last year (49 solo), 10 of which were for a loss. He also notched four sacks and five passes defensed.
Overshown's experience as a defensive back serves him in coverage as a linebacker. He exits the college ranks with three career interceptions and 17 pass break-ups.
The view on Overshown is that while he's an athletic whirling dervish and can go sideline to sideline chasing the ball, he lacks in his play recognition/diagnosis and lacks the combination of size and technique to shed blocks with proficiency in the box. These are areas NFL coaches will have to help him improve.
The Broncos need to churn the inside linebacker depth chart with Josey Jewell entering a contract year. Last year's leading tackler, Alex Singleton, was re-signed this offseason, though, and Denver exercised Jonas Griffith's exclusive rights free-agent tender.
Right now, the Broncos have a solid linebacker depth chart, but it's top-heavy. It'll be interesting to see how new defensive coordinator Vance Joseph views Baron Browning, and whether he'll remain an edge defender, or move back to his original role in Denver as an off-ball linebacker.
