NFL world reacts to terrible Broncos news

By Chris Novak,

The Denver Broncos received terrible news on the status of one of their budding wide receivers.

KJ Hamler recently sustained a partially-torn pectoral muscle. Hamler, a prospective fourth-year wide receiver out of Penn State, will miss significant time this off-season after he underwent a surgical procedure.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported the news on Thursday morning.

“#Broncos WR KJ Hamler recently underwent surgery after suffering a partially torn pec while training on his own, per sources,” Pelissero tweeted. “The recovery timeline is four to six months, giving Hamler a chance ot be ready right around the start of training camp in late July.”

While the prognosis is favorable in Hamler’s corner, there’s obviously nothing fun or positive about tearing a muscle.

For a player like Hamler, who’s only played 23 games in his three seasons in the league, you hope that he’s ready for camp and gets a real shot to break out. Otherwise, he could turn into a what-might-have-been as he’s had terrible luck staying on the field.

Through three years in the NFL, Hamler totaled 620 receiving yards on 42 receptions with three receiving touchdowns. But all three came in 2020 as he hasn’t scored a TD in either of the last two seasons.
