Aggies, Lady Raiders win state track meet
The Marion County Lady Red Raiders and the Hamilton Aggies have each won their respective state track meets, hosted from Thursday, May 2, through May 4. Hamilton traveled to Gulf Shores to compete in the 4A-7A meet, while all other Marion County teams traveled to Cullman for the 1A-3A meet.

Tharptown High School wins national rocket competition
RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Tharptown High School won the top spot at the National Rocketry Competition in Washington, D.C. Sunday. The group competed against nearly 1,000 other teams from across the country. The American Rocketry Challenge is the world’s largest rocket contest with nearly 5,000 students nationwide competing every year. The contest allows middle and high school students to design, build and launch model rockets and hands-on experience solving engineering problems.
Double Springs man killed in rollover Birmingham crash that injured 2 others
A man killed in a rollover crash in Birmingham has now been identified. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Craig Wayne Reno. He was 49 and lived in Double Springs. The wreck happened at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday at 24th Street South and Third Avenue South.
