    Lakeside boys win regional track title, girls share crown with CMH; Brzowski, Fuglestad victorious for Lake Mills

    DELAVAN — Lakeside Lutheran’s boys track and field team won the Division 2 Delavan-Darien regional title while the Warrior girls tied Catholic Memorial for top honors on Monday.

    The Warriors won the boys competition handily with 189 points, placing first in nine events, compared to runner-up Catholic Memorial’s total of 116 points.

    Numerous athletes qualified for sectional competition with top four finishes.

    Junior Ben Krauklis won the 200 meter dash in 21.79 seconds and placed second in the 100 meter dash in 10.88.

    Senior Karsten Grundahl won the 800 in 1:59.79 while freshman Jack Thiele was fourth in 2:04.54.

    Senior Cameron Weiland won the 1,600 in 4:34.87 and the 3,200 in 9:57.23.

    Senior Mark Garcia took second in the 3,200 in 10:13.85. Senior Gideon Ewerdt was fourth in the 3,200 in 10:20.50.

    Senior Daniel Ertman placed second in the 400 in 49.77. Senior Joey Dretske finished second in both the 110 high hurdles in 16.96 and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 44.07.

    Senior Alex Reinke was third in the 200 in 22.47.

    Lakeside advanced in all four relay events and won three of them.

    The 800 relay team of junior Issiah Sampson, junior Tyler Dahlie, Krauklis and Reinke won in 1:29.02. The 1,600 relay team of Ertman, Grundahl, Dahlie and Reinke won in 3:24.76.

    The 3,200 relay team of Weiland, Ewerdt, Garcia and Grundahl won in 8:20.16.

    The 400 relay team of Sampson, junior Josef Rupnow, senior Tyler Tauscheck and sophomore Tyler Schuld finished third in 44.73.

    In the field events, Dahlie won the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches) and the triple jump (42-3 1/2), junior Nolan Schweighardt placed second in the pole vault (12-0), junior Brandon Genz was fourth in the pole vault (9-6) and sophomore Will Stuebs was fourth in the discus (127-5 1/2).

    Lakeside’s girls scored 105.50 points.

    Senior Brielle Leis won the shot put (34-8) and placed second in the discus (105-5).

    The 3,200 relay team of junior Ashley Rosenau, senior Paige Krahn, and freshmen Natalie Schultz and Hannah Minning placed third in 10:44.78.

    The 800 relay team of junior Cecilia Krahn, sophomore Sophia Rhyner, junior Ella Schuetz and freshman Taryn Jobke finished third in 1:50.10.

    The 400 relay team of senior Claire Heinrich, Rhyner, Jobke and Cecilia Krahn finished fourth in 52.69. The 1,600 relay team of junior Kate Thiele, Paige Krahn, junior Mara Minning and freshman Grace Gall finished fourth in 4:20.54.

    Hannah Minning took third in the 1,600 in 5:53.43.

    Gall placed third in the 400 in 1:03.87. Schultz took third in the 3,200 in 12:59.78. Sophomore Sophia Bostetter was third in the discus (104-9).

    Junior Elaina Litherland was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 18.77.

    Schuetz was fourth in the 200 in 27.93. Cecilia Krahn placed fourth in the triple jump (31-5 1/2).

    The Lake Mills boys took fourth with 78 points.

    Senior Nathan Brzowski won the 110 high hurdles in 16.93 and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 42.87. Junior Chet Klawitter was third in the 300 hurdles in 45.27.

    The 3,200 relay team of junior Saul Lopez, sophomore Max Springer, junior Max Kressner and senior Jack Phillips finished third in 8:36.23.

    In the long jump, junior Mason Fuglestad won with a leap of 20-3 3/4 while freshman Dylan Brinkmann was third (19-9 1/4). Junior Tommy Cassady was third in both the shot put (51-1) and the discus (127-9).

    The Lake Mills girls scored 24 points.

    Senior Ava Vesperman placed second in the 400 in 1:03.56 and fourth in the 800 in 2:33.67.

    Qualifiers compete at the Big Foot sectional on Thursday.
