Middletown, NY Restaurant Featured on Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible
One Hudson Valley restaurant was just recently featured on the Food Network; however, the initial reasons for being on the show may not be as appetizing. Restaurant: Impossible follows Chef Robert Irvine as he tries to turn around restaurants across the United States that are facing impending demise if things don't improve. Irvine only has a $10,000 budget and two days to work to turn things around. $10,000 may sound like a lot, but for anyone who has ever done a remodel (commercially or residentially) it goes quickly trying to fix things. Irvine and his team's creativity and resourcefulness come in handy in saving these restaurants.
Local Business Was Firing Half Its Workers, Now it’s All of Them
A Hudson Valley company that was planning on laying off half of its workers now says that everyone is getting pink slips. We told you back in December that a local distribution company was planning on laying off over half of its 106 employees. Those separations are currently taking place this month. But in an unfortunate turn of events, the workers who originally thought they were spared from losing their jobs have now learned that they need to go too.
What Happened: Fire from Illegal Burn Injures 3 Firefighters
Three firefighters are injured and a home was reduced to a smoking frame only days after the annual burn ban took effect in New York. The fire, started by a suspected illegal burn just minutes from the border of Orange County, NY on Greenwood Lake, took first responders hours to extinguish. Several homes suffered superficial damage from the flames, but one home was completely destroyed by the blaze. Authorities recently released more information on the dangerous situation.
Volunteer Gardeners Needed at Community Non-Profit Agency
Project Self-Sufficiency is seeking volunteers to assist with planting, maintenance, and harvesting of fruits and vegetables from the community gardens at the agency’s Newton campus.
