Up to $5,000 is being offered as a reward for information leading to an arrest in the murder case of a 67-year-old man.
Just before midnight August 26, 2022, Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) deputies and fire rescue received a call about an aggravated battery. The authorities arrived in the area of Southwest First Terrace in Deerfield Beach and found the victim, William Swackard, on the ground, bleeding and unconscious, the Wednesday BSO news release said.
Swackard, of Deerfield Beach, was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries several days later.
The BSO Violent Crimes Unit began an investigation, and Swackard's death was officially labeled a homicide by the medical examiner's office earlier this year, per the news release.
A witness from the area that the 67-year-old man was found told investigators another man in his mid-30's wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts assaulted Swackard.
The supposed attacker was last seen headed north from the area on a bicycle, BSO said.
Currently, detectives are still investigating Swackard's murder and are searching for new leads.
Anyone with information on this incident or the fleeing subject is urged to call Violent Crimes Unit Det. Jennifer Petrofsky at 954-321-4238. Any information that leads to an arrest of Swackard's murderer is eligible to be rewarded up to $5,000.
